Go Green Walkabout.

Greetings, dear earthlings.

On the 28th- 29th April, smk (p) sri aman had its ' Go Green Walkabout' on Curriculum Day. the Pencinta Alam club was asked to exhibit articles and educate students of sri aman about the environment and our planet's ecology. Only students from form 1, 2 and 4 classes were involved. They were asked to walk about the school, stopping at each booth located at different places to watch and participate in the club' s presentations.

The river rangers had their exhibition in block D. They showed students how to chemically test river water and explained how the water harvesting system in our school worked. they even shared tips and ways of conserving water when it comes to dometic use. The eco rangers, on the other hand, showed the students a short movie and types of compost. The 3r team had theirs in the Dataran Dewan located between the hall and the cabin classes. the students were educated on how to recycle, and a short film was presented. there were also a few ' recycling ' games and artworks from previous competitions in their exhibition too. The last booth for the students to visit was in the gallery where they were given a brief explanation about the school' s solar panels.

The whole event was a synonym to great success. Teachers and students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learned a whole lot more about the eco- system.

This post burned a tree and created a small hole in the atmosphere.

Needless to say, this heading is far fetched by quite a stretch of imagination, but if information is power and the spreading of knowledge is considered progress, then SA' s Environment team is here to stay as fervent green bloggers.

Owing ecology a huge apology, students here in Sri Aman have found a way to redeem ourselves through various projects conducted by dedicated teachers. Soon after our school changed its path to a greener manner, a club dedicated to all treehuggers in Sri Aman was formed. Comprising of students from each form, the Pencinta Alam club is lead by Nur Farhanah, 14 and Ashiqin Mustapha, 16 under the supervision of Pn. Afizan, Pn. Norhafizah, Cik Mashita and Madam Yeo. the club is branched out into 3 different groups who are responsible of different projects; river rangers, eco rangers and 3r..

In a nutshell, the river rangers manage the rainwater harvesting system in our school and do river health checks and the eco rangers plant trees and compost waste whilst the 3r team conduct recycling drives and implement the 3r waste management system in our school.

Participating in an event called the Green School Awards 2009, we were asked to create a blog. In doing so now, our hopes are high for educating more students about the environment and channeling out information, updates and haps about our club via this very green blog. and so i ask a very small favor of spreading out the address of this blog to fellow sri amanians and other students from other schools and maybe mother nature might have its rightful throne back again. Till then, adieu!!
